2011: Mixed

There was a time when mixed marriages were frowned upon in Malaysia – and perhaps even know, there are pockets of society that cannot quite grasp the idea of interracial marriages. But times are changing and the beautiful faces that walk the streets today no longer clearly belong to one particular race or ethnicity. The faces of 1Malaysia can be distinctly Malay, Chinese, Indian, or somewhere in between, falling under the category of “Others” in official forms. Yes, the Malaysian “face” is now a random rojak of heterogenous faces but Malaysians they truly are, as they proudly posed for this photographer.
